Students plan, design and give a four-minute talk with questions across ten 60-minute lessons, building one deck that grows each week: a storyboard with headline titles, slides designed with alignment and a style guide, pictures and diagrams with credited images, a story with a hook and a clear ending, purposeful animation, two timed rehearsals, accessible slides with live captions, and hidden backup slides for questions. Talk Day runs in groups of four, so every student presents in one period. Every step-by-step covers PowerPoint for the web and Google Slides, on Windows, Mac and Chromebook.

What Students Will Learn

Learning Goals

  1. Plan a talk as a storyboard with one idea per slide and headline titles.
  2. Design consistent, readable slides using contrast, alignment, space and a style guide.
  3. Explain ideas with pictures, diagrams and purposeful animation.
  4. Rehearse with timing and feedback, and make slides accessible with live captions.
  5. Give a four-minute talk and handle questions with confidence.

Build a full TY year around Digital Presentations

This module is one of 7 Transition Year modules you can combine into a complete Year-Long TY Digital Skills Programme, shaped around your timetable and the students in front of you.

Run the same pathway for every student, or set different pathways for different groups. Students also get access to the modules they're not doing in class, which is ideal for the keen ones who finish early or want to explore further on their own time.

Prefer a deeper tech focus? Swap in Advanced Coding or Robotics and Automation. Each module is 10 to 15 lessons of 40-60 minutes, leaving room for school events, mid-terms and everything else TY throws at you.

Why TY coordinators choose it
One decision, a year's content
No more stitching resources together every term.
Flexible per class, per student
Run different pathways side by side.
Certificates after each module
Great for TY portfolios, open days and reports home.
Sets students up for Senior Cycle
Broad exposure so they choose subjects with confidence.
