    1 - Welcome

Warm-up (30 seconds): Open your word processor from last lesson. Can you find the menu bar at the top without looking at these instructions?

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

    • Identify key areas of the word processor interface (ribbon, insertion point, status bar)
    • Navigate between ribbon tabs efficiently
    • Explain how document layout affects readability
    • Create a 'Ribbon Tour' reference page for your Digital Portfolio

Today you'll learn the 'anatomy' of your word processor and create a reference guide you'll use all semester.

    2 - Key Concepts

    Word Processor Anatomy

    • Ribbon/Toolbar: Contains all formatting tools, organised by tabs (Home, Insert, Design)
    • Insertion Point: Blinking vertical line showing where new text appears
    • Status Bar: Bottom of screen showing word count, page number, zoom level
    • Document Layout: Margins, page breaks, headers/footers that structure your content

These elements work together to help you create professional documents quickly.

    3 - Step-by-step Task

Follow these instructions to explore your word processor interface and label its key areas. You'll create screenshots or drawings showing where everything lives.

4 - Worked Demonstration: Build Your Reference Page

Follow along to create the exact structure for your Ribbon Tour reference page. We'll add a header, then demonstrate the complete image + callout + description pattern for all 5 required elements.
