Warm-up (30 seconds): Think about your Something Real project from Lesson 1. Have you written a draft proposal yet? What would you change if you could update one word or name throughout the whole document instantly?
Portfolio Build: Today you'll add a Proofread Proposal v3 to your Digital Portfolio — your Lesson 4 draft cleaned up with Find/Replace and meeting around 400-word target.
Find and Replace lets you change every instance of a word instantly — perfect for updating project names, fixing typos, or standardising terms across long reports. Word Count tells you exactly how many words you've written, essential for meeting assignment limits (like around 400 words for this proposal). Together, these tools make you look professional and save hours of manual editing.
Follow these instructions using a practice document. Type this sample text into a new blank document:
Project: School Bake Sale. Goal: Raise €500 for local animal shelter. Date: Friday 15th November. We will sell cupcakes, brownies and cookies. Each item costs 50c to make. Target price: €2 per item. Expected sales: 300 items. Team: Sarah, Jack, Emma and Mr O'Reilly.
The bake sale will feature 5 types of cupcakes (chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, lemon and carrot). Brownies will be classic chocolate. Cookies include chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. All items use local ingredients from Kelly's Bakery in town.
Now use Find/Replace to update: 'School Bake Sale' → 'TY Fundraiser', '€500' → '€600', 'Sarah' → 'Aoife'. Check word count is approximately 80-90 words.
