Warm-up (30 seconds): Think of one fact you found last week for your Something Real project. Where did it come from — a website, social media post, or AI answer? Jot it down.
This lesson builds your Research Page for the Digital Portfolio — 5 facts about your Something Real, each verified using the CRAAP test.
Note: CRAAP has two "A" questions — 1st A = Authority, 2nd A = Accuracy
Use these 5 questions to evaluate any online source (websites, social posts, AI answers):
| Letter | Question | Red Flags |
|---|---|---|
| C | Currency: Is it recent enough? | Old copyright (pre-2020), 'last updated 2015' |
| R | Relevance: Does it actually help your project? | Too general, wrong country, not your topic |
| 1st A | Authority: Who wrote/published it? Are they experts? | No author name, random blog, unknown organisation |
| 2nd A | Accuracy: Can you verify it elsewhere? Evidence provided? | Spelling errors, no sources cited, sounds made up |
| P | Purpose: What's their goal — inform or sell/persuade? | Too many ads, pushy language, hidden agenda |
Follow these steps to create a CRAAP evaluation table with 3 complete worked examples. Study the teacher reasoning in rows 2-4, then you'll clear them for your own research.
Success criteria: Create a Research Page with 5 facts about your Something Real. One fact MUST come from an AI answer that you verified (or corrected). Use the models from Step 3.
AI says: 'Dublin minimum wage €13.50 (source: citizensinformation.ie)' → Check real site → Correct to €14.15 (national rate) → Verdict: 'Use corrected national figure'
