    1 - Welcome

Warm-up (30 seconds): Think about the Polished Proposal v2 you created last lesson. Which part was hardest to read? Why?

This lesson teaches you to use bullet and numbered lists to make your documents easier to scan — a key skill for proposals that stakeholders actually read.

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

    • Apply different formats to improve document readability
    • Use bullets and numbered lists appropriately to help readers scan
    • Avoid overuse of bullet points in creator and vocational documents
    • Enhance proposal readability for real stakeholders

Portfolio Build: Today you'll upgrade your proposal to v7 with effective lists that make your key points unmissable.

    2 - Key Concepts

    When lists help readers:

    • Lists for scanning: Busy readers (teachers, parents, sponsors) scan documents in an F-pattern — they read left-to-right, top-to-bottom, looking for bold text, numbers, bullets
    • Bullets: Use for equal items (features, benefits, requirements)
    • Numbers: Use for sequences, priorities, steps

    When lists hurt readability:

    • Don't bullet everything — dense bullet lists look like spam
    • Avoid nesting bullets more than 1 level deep
    • Keep list items short (1-2 lines max)

    Today's skill:

Convert a solid paragraph into a scannable list that highlights your strongest points. Before/after showing paragraph transformed into bulleted list

    3 - Step-by-step Task

Follow these instructions to convert a paragraph into an effective bulleted list using a worked example. This shows you exactly how lists upgrade readability. Notice how we first split the paragraph into separate lines with {{key:Enter}}, then apply bullets.

    Common Issues

    • Issue: I can't find the bullets button
      Solution: Look in the toolbar for icons that look like bullets ({{btn:•}}) or numbers ({{btn:1,2,3}}). Or use the menu: {{menu:Home -> Paragraph}}
    • Issue: My list won't start
Solution: Make sure you select all lines first, then click the bullets button
    • Issue: The spacing looks wrong
Solution: Lists automatically add spacing. Press {{key:Enter}} twice after the list to return to normal paragraphs

    4 - Portfolio Build: Proposal V7

Apply what you learned to upgrade your own Polished Proposal v2 from Lesson 5 into Proposal v7 — your most readable version yet. You've now seen both bullets AND numbered lists in action.

    Instructions:

    1. Open your Polished Proposal v2 (from Lesson 5) from your Digital Portfolio folder
    2. Find 1-2 dense paragraphs and convert them to bullets or numbered lists
    3. Choose ONE consistent list type per list (all bullets OR all numbers, not mixed)
    4. Lists should highlight your strongest 3-5 points
    5. Keep some paragraphs intact — don't bullet everything
    6. Save as Proposal_v7.docx (or .gdoc) in your Digital Portfolio folder

    Example transformations:
Before: 'The event will include music, games, food stalls, raffles and a silent auction.'
    All-bullets example (equal items):

    • {{btn:•}} Live music from school bands
    • {{btn:•}} Raffle with donated prizes
    • {{btn:•}} Food stalls (profits to Pieta House)

    All-numbered example (sequence/priorities):

    1. Live music from school bands
    2. Raffle with donated prizes
    3. Food stalls (profits to Pieta House)
