LC Geography: Running the Applied Geography Project

A two-and-a-half-hour course for Leaving Certificate Geography teachers whose fifth-year classes started the new specification in September 2026. The Applied Geography Project is worth 40% of the subject, on a common brief from the SEC, which expects to issue the live brief by Quarter 1 2027; until then the course uses the SEC's sample brief. It takes the NCCA guidelines' seven stages one by one, from considering the brief to finalising the report, and shows how to support inquiry questions and evidence that stay each student's own, with fieldwork and data protection under your school's policies. It sets out how to authenticate the work under the SEC's Coursework Rules and Procedures, including referencing and AI use. Every template is yours to download and adapt.
