Different parts of the world have very different climates. Some countries are warm and sunny for most of the year, while others have cold winters with snow and ice. People in each place learn to talk about the weather in their own language.

Weather is an important part of daily life because it affects what we wear, what activities we do, and how we travel.

    3 - Weather in Ireland

Illustration for Weather in Ireland Ireland is famous for its changing weather. Because Ireland is an island surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the weather can change quickly throughout the day.

You might see sunshine in the morning, clouds in the afternoon, and rain in the evening. This is why people sometimes say Ireland has “four seasons in one day”.

Even though it rains quite often, Ireland usually has mild temperatures compared to many other countries.

    • Rain is common in Ireland.
    • Summers are usually cool rather than very hot.
    • Winters are mild and rarely extremely cold.
    • The weather can change quickly during the day.
✨ Did You Know? Dublin gets around 750mm of rain each year, which is similar to London’s rainfall. Yet, Dublin has more rainy days than London due to lighter, more frequent showers.
Have you ever seen sunshine and rain on the same day?
