1 - Twenty Seconds About You ~5 mins

Illustration for Twenty seconds about youYou have twenty seconds to tell someone who you are. What makes the cut: your name, your age, where you live, one thing you love?

Today you string four facts into a short spoken profile in Spanish, just like meeting a new classmate on a video call to Spain.

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

    • Give a four-fact spoken profile about yourself
    • Write sentences for name, age, where you live and one thing you like
    • Notice how Spanish talks about age differently from English

    2 - Eight About-me Phrases ~10 mins

Tap each phrase on the table, listen, then say it back together. Your four-fact profile uses four frames: name, age with tengo (I have), where you live, and one thing you like. The other phrases are handy extras you can add if you want.

    Meet Lucía in Sevilla:

Me llamo Lucía. Tengo once años. Vivo en Sevilla. Me gusta el flamenco. (My name is Lucía. I am eleven. I live in Seville. I like flamenco.)

Age numbers you may need: diez (10), once (11), doce (12), trece (13)

Like options (all singular with Me gusta): el fútbol, el cine, la música, la lectura, el baloncesto, el tenis

Imagine you are answering Lucía on a video call: give your name, age, Irish town or city, and one thing you like.

3 - Listen for the Profile Facts ~10 mins

Listen carefully. Your teacher will play the audio twice on the class speakers. Listen out for name, age and where someone lives, then answer the questions together as a class.

    4 - Into Your Copy ~3 mins

    COPYBOOK MOMENT

You have just said your profile out loud with your partner. Open your copy. Using the model still on the board, write your own four sentences: name, age, where you live, and one thing you like. Personalise the slots; keep the accents and Spanish word order you have just practised.

    5 - Four-fact Partner Profiles ~10 mins

Work with a partner. Take turns giving your four-fact profile, as if you are answering Lucía on a video call: name, age, where you live, and one thing you like. Partner A goes first, then swap so Partner B speaks. You may add one extra fact (No me gusta..., a favourite colour or food, or a pet) if you want.
