    1 - Getting Started ~3 mins

Illustration for Getting StartedWatch this silly sandwich. Butter on the outside, bread last… oh no! Why did that go wrong?

What do you think we need to get right when we do steps?

    2 - Today's Word: Algorithm ~4 mins

    Key point

Today's word: algorithm. That means a set of steps in the right order that tell you how to do something.

Say it with me: an algorithm is steps in the right order.

    3 - Watch the Steps ~5 mins

Look at the four sandwich picture cards. Which one should come first?

Watch how we put them in order, then say the steps with me.

    4 - Order the Cards ~7 mins

Illustration for Order the cardsFirst we get ready, then we order.

    Key point

Every group gets the sandwich picture cards. Put the pictures in the right order. Say the steps out loud together.

    5 - Play Robot ~6 mins

Now play robot with your ordered cards.

    Key point

One child talks: say one step. One child is the robot: pretend only that step. Then swap jobs. No real food.
