A finished favourite-fruit tally is on the board. Which fruit has the most marks? Which fruit has the fewest marks?
Here are three finished tallies. A gate is four upright marks with a line across them, so that group counts as five votes.
Count the marks in each row. Name the row with the most and the row with the fewest.
How many more means count on from the smaller total to the bigger one. On the PE chart, Football has 11 and Skipping has 5. Start at 5, then count 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. That is 6 more.
Today we read this class tally together. The boxes beside the marks start empty: count the marks in each row, type its total and press Check.
When every total is right, name the fruit with the most and the fruit with the fewest, then find how many more Apple has than Orange.
Look at the favourite-fruit tally still on the board. In your maths copy, write: The most was ______ with ______ votes.
Four new tallies, one at a time. For each one, count the marks in every row, type the totals and press Check. Then answer the question under the chart out loud.
