    1 - Introducing the Grid

Welcome back, detective! Today, we're going to solve the mystery of the second clue in our Pattern Puzzles unit. Our mission is to find the hidden patterns in a grid of numbers. To do this, we will first draw a grid on a piece of paper. Then, we will fill the grid with numbers and look for patterns in rows, columns, and diagonals. Finally, we will mark the patterns we find and share our findings with others. Are you ready to start your detective work? Let's get started!

    2 - Drawing the Grid

Let's create our number grid. Follow these steps:

    1. Take a piece of paper and a pencil.
    2. Draw 5 equally spaced horizontal lines across the paper.
    3. Draw 5 equally spaced vertical lines on the paper, intersecting the horizontal lines. This will create a 5x5 grid.
    4. Now, we will fill in the grid with numbers. Start at the top-left corner and write the number 1.
    5. Move one cell to the right and write the number 6. Continue moving to the right and filling in the numbers, following this pattern:
    1 6 11 16 21
    2 7 12 17 22
    3 8 13 18 23
    4 9 14 19 24
    5 10 15 20 25

Make sure to write the numbers clearly and neatly in each cell of the grid.

    3 - Looking for Patterns

Now that we have our grid, it's time to search for patterns. Look closely at the numbers in the rows, columns, and diagonals. Can you spot any patterns? Remember, patterns can be found in many different ways! Here are some tips to help you find patterns:

    1. Look for numbers that are increasing or decreasing in a sequence, like 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10, 8, 6, 4.
    2. Check if there are any repeating numbers or groups of numbers, such as 3, 3, 3 or 1, 2, 1, 2.
    3. Examine the grid for any patterns that involve adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing numbers, like 5, 10, 15, 20 (multiplying by 5) or 9, 6, 3, 0 (subtracting 3).
    4. Pay attention to the diagonals, as patterns can also be found there, such as 1, 4, 7, 10 (adding 3).

Take your time and carefully look at each row, column, and diagonal to find as many patterns as you can. Don't forget to use the tips above to help you in your search!

    4 - Marking the Patterns

Once you've found a pattern, circle the numbers involved in the pattern. Keep searching for more patterns and circle the numbers as you find them. There might be more than one pattern in the grid!
