Today you open your Communication Portfolio and check what is actually there. Banked or flagged both count as honest.
You will leave with a Module 1 Reflection: a Key Assignment check, three confidence gains with evidence, one practice goal, and a Module 2 bridge line. The full reflection goes in your Communication Portfolio. The bridge line alone goes in your Reflective Journal.
A Module 1 reflection is not a diary of every lesson. It is four moves: check the five Key Assignments, name three confidence gains with evidence, set one practice goal, and leave one honest line for Module 2.
| Term | What it means for you | Real example |
|---|---|---|
| Self-check | Honest review against a list, with evidence named. You open the folder and say banked or flagged for each KA. | KA3 banked: m1_l18_dialogue_ka3_AO, dialogue plus contribution note, in the folder |
| Portfolio review | Checking what is actually filed. You name the real piece, not the plan you had for it. | Opened folder: KA2 three covers are there; KA4 proof markup missing, so flagged |
| Carry forward | One habit you take into the next module. Pick something useful for digital work, not a vague wish. | Draft, mark, redraft before you trust a first version |
| Module bridge | A short pointer into what comes next. One journal line that future-you can act on. | In Module 2 I will check who a website is built for the way I checked what a character wants |
Exemplar (short and complete): KA1–KA5 all banked. More confident: writing for a real reader (audience switch email), spotting what a character wants (motivation map), saying an opinion with a reason (spoken opinion on the anchor text). Want more practice: cutting filler words when I speak. Module 2 line: I want to check a website the way I now check a character.
Coming in Module 2: the digital texts you meet every day, with units on your digital identity, staying safe online and being a digital citizen. Your Reflective Journal and Communication Portfolio carry straight on into it.
Open your Communication Portfolio beside you. Fill the audit sheet once (on screen or on paper, same layout). Keep that sheet with your Module 1 Reflection; it is the copy that counts.
First mark each Key Assignment banked or flagged with one evidence note (filename, piece, or moment). Then rate each skill line only when you can name a real piece or moment that shows it. A rating with no evidence does not count, and nobody is adding these up.
This is the Module 1 Reflection that goes in your Communication Portfolio. Use your audit. Check each Key Assignment, name three confidence gains with evidence, set one practice goal, and finish with one journal line pointing into Module 2.
Priority: Land all four moves first (KA check, three evidenced gains, practice goal, Module 2 line). Mark and tidy if time remains; a complete marked draft still files. Finish the clean copy before Module 2 begins.
Exit checks (both required):
m1_l30_module1_reflection_<your-initials>.txtDefault is pair delivery so everyone speaks once. Take the reflection you just wrote. In a short turn (about a minute), tell your partner three things only: one Key Assignment status you are owning honestly (banked with evidence, or flagged with a finish plan), one skill you are more confident with and the piece that shows it, and the line you are carrying into Module 2. Speak from notes. Do not read the full page.
After you deliver, fill the short delivery record (who heard you, what went well, one change next time). Keep that sign-off with your Module 1 Reflection in the Communication Portfolio. Optional device recording is only if headphones are available; the portfolio artefact is the partner sign-off, not an audio file.
