You are about halfway through Year 2. By now you should have three ALTs moving toward banked: your personal statement, your career progression plan, and your collaborative reflection. If one is still a draft or missing, still build the index: mark status honestly and name the gap. Your teacher will help you plan recovery after class.
A folder full of files is not the same as a portfolio you can use. Today you are reflecting by building something the portfolio does not yet have: a real index. Your Portfolio Health Check is that living index page. Gaps that are invisible inside folders become obvious on one page. That page stays with you and gets updated every time something new is banked.
Three terms you will use while you build your Portfolio Health Check (the living index page for your Digital Portfolio):
| Term | What it means for you | Real example |
|---|---|---|
| Portfolio index | A living contents page that names every major artefact, where it sits, and whether it is finished. Your Portfolio Health Check document in the Strand 2.1 folder is this index. | A single page listing ALT 1, ALT 2 and ALT 3 with evidence and locations |
| Evidence map | The link between an ALT and the supporting pieces that prove it. You will list drafts, feedback, research and process documents under each banked ALT. | ALT 3 beside problem definition, ideation board, solution, process reflection and final reflection |
| Gap | A place where claimed evidence is missing, unfinished or hard to find. A thin row on the index is recoverable now; it is not recoverable the night before the Portfolio in Action brief. | ALT 2 final saved, but the peer-review note never listed |
First the class builds the shape of the index together: what every row must say so that somebody who is not you could still find the work. Agree the wording under each heading. Starter chips are class demos of complete sample rows only. Do not copy those example rows into your own document. Reword anything that is vague.
The list-builder only agrees the row shape with the class. Your assessed artefact is the Portfolio Health Check document you create in Strand 2.1 from your own folders: copy the headings, not the class example rows.
Then open your Digital Portfolio and create a document called Portfolio Health Check in your Strand 2.1 folder. Copy the agreed shape, not the class examples.
Build a full index covering:
For every piece, write the document name, the folder it lives in, and the status: finished, draft, or missing. Write the folder you actually used. Where something is missing or thin, name the gap in plain language.
An ALT where the task produced more pieces than you can point to should look wrong on the page. That is the point. This Portfolio Health Check stays in the portfolio and is updated each time something new is banked.
Talk these through with the person beside you, then decide whether one more gap needs naming on your Portfolio Health Check before you leave.
If a gap matters, add it to your Portfolio Health Check now. Optional portfolio note later: one short paragraph to future-you on the thinnest ALT and the first document you will fix.
In this lesson you:
Optional stretch: add a fourth block for non-ALT strand evidence you may need later (values work, skills audits, community investigations) so the Portfolio Health Check covers more than the three finals.
