KA2 Banking: Compare and Contrast Presentation

Turn your previous analysis of three event coverages into a structured compare-and-contrast piece in the medium you choose. Include a brief event summary, details on each channel and its audience, four points of contrast, and a final judgement on which channel best served its audience.

    1 - Getting Started ~5 mins

Today you turn your three-channel analysis into a clean compare-and-contrast piece for your Communication Portfolio, make a clear call on which coverage served its audience best, and complete M3 KA2 with your teacher. You choose the medium: a poster made here, or a one-or-two-page document, an infographic or a slide deck in your usual tool.

Your KA2 Final Pack (for your teacher to verify) is exactly three things: (1) your finished piece, (2) the completed four-part pack record, (3) your working notes from Lessons 72 and 73, with your filled Comparison Rubric Template. Filename: m3_ka2_comparison_<your-initials>. Locking your four contrast points and the short poster description are working support and exam-skill practice, not extra pack items.

If your working pack is missing, open your Event Brief and your three sources now and work from the coverage itself.

    2 - What a Strong Deliverable Holds ~8 mins

A strong compare-and-contrast piece carries four parts, in this order:

    1. the event in one short paragraph
    2. the three channels and who each one was for
    3. four points of contrast (what each emphasised, omitted, or framed differently)
    4. a closing judgement: which channel served its audience best, and why

Sample model (not your event): a new pedestrian crossing opens outside a secondary school. Channel A, local radio breakfast bulletin (ninety seconds, drivers on the school run): names date and road, quotes a Garda, ends before explaining why the crossing was needed. Channel B, regional newspaper site next morning (parents and locals): timeline, map, two named voices, omits night-time lighting. Channel C, thirty-second phone video on a local parent feed that evening: shows the crossing, caption only, no named source.

Four contrasts on that set, using the four labels you will lock in next: fit for its audience, what it put first, what it left out, and tone and framing. The closing judgement picks one channel and names who it served. Someone who never saw your working notes should still be able to read the finished piece and get the comparison.

    3 - Agree the Criteria ~10 mins

Lock in your four contrast points and your winner. The four criteria in the comparator are your four contrast points for your piece (fit for audience, what it put first, what it left out, tone and framing). Add your three coverage channels, write one short note per cell, and rate each channel. This working judgement feeds your closing call. It is not the KA2 deliverable itself. The comparator does not save: press Copy for my portfolio and paste the grid into the box below, so you can lift from it in the Build step.

    4 - Describe the Poster ~15 mins

In a few sentences, describe the poster version of your comparison (shape, headline, how the three channels sit, where the closing judgement goes), whatever medium you build next. This is short practice for the kind of media-description question you may meet on the SEC written examination; it is not a Final Pack item.

If the period is short, finish it at home: the next step stands alone.

    Sketch the poster in words

    5 - Build Your KA2 Deliverable ~17 mins

Build the piece that holds your compare-and-contrast: a poster in the composer below, or a one-or-two-page document, infographic or slide deck in your usual tool. Your teacher verifies M3 KA2 from this pack. It needs the event in brief, the three channels, four points of contrast (the same four you locked in), and your closing judgement on which channel served its audience best.

One clear picture is enough. In the composer, pick it from the library; if it is marked CREDIT, add the credit line the Credits tab gives you.

Complete the four-part pack record by lifting from your lock-in notes and tightening only. Then save your finished piece (a poster saves as a picture with the composer's download button), this pack record, and your working notes from Lessons 72 and 73 into your Communication Portfolio as the KA2 Final Pack (m3_ka2_comparison_<your-initials>). File as you finish so your teacher can check during this block.
