Today we take one clear question all the way to a chart. A class asked: which fruit is your favourite, Apple, Banana, Orange or Grapes?
Here is the tally chart they used, before any votes went in. Which fruit do you think won? The finished chart will tell us.
Here is the fruit question taken all the way. First the tally, then the same votes as a pictogram where one picture stands for two, then the same votes as bars.
Read the winner off each one. Do they all name the same fruit?
The tally for favourite fruit is Apple 8, Banana 6, Orange 4 and Grapes 2. Drag each bar up so it matches that height. When every bar matches the tally, the tallest bar answers the question.
In your maths copy, write these stems.
Our question was ____.
The chart shows ____ got the most votes.
If you have time: ____ got ____ more than ____.
A new question: what is your favourite colour? The tally says Red 5, Blue 9, Green 3 and Yellow 6.
Build the bars first. Then read the answers off the chart, type them and press Check.
