Students finish last lesson's sequence with a transition, colour matching and a sound effect timed to a cut, export it, then re-cut the same clips to see how order carries meaning.

1 - Start ~3 mins

Illustration for Start Open the project you saved last lesson. Go to snipsound.com/video-editor: on the same computer as last time it opens by itself, or click the folder button at the top and choose Open projects.

It plays, but it cuts hard and the sound sits flat behind it. Today you finish it, export it, and then re-cut it to see how much the order was doing.

On a different computer?

Click Manage › at the bottom of the Media panel, then Restore backup, and choose the .zip you saved last lesson.

If your project is not there

Tell your teacher now rather than working through it alone. You can rebuild it in a few minutes from your clips.

2 - What a Transition Actually Does ~5 mins

A cut is an instant change. A transition spends time getting from one clip to the next, and that time changes how the change feels.

Choice	What the viewer reads
Hard cut	Urgency. Things are moving.
Short transition, about 0.5s	Deliberate. Somebody chose this.
Long transition, a second or more	Time passing, or a dream. Easy to overdo.
Fade to black	That is the end. Stop watching.

Key point

A transition is a choice about pace, not decoration. If you cannot say what it is doing, use a cut.

3 - Hands-on: Transition and Colour ~12 mins

Put one transition on the join you most want the viewer to feel, then match your clips for colour so they look like one piece.

One soundtrack is flat. A second layer, timed against the picture, is what makes an edit feel finished.
