A database is a collection of information organized in a way that makes it easy to find, add, and update data. In this lesson, you'll learn the basics of databases and create your own simple database called 'My Favorite Animals'.
For this project, we'll use a free online tool called Airtable. First, go to Airtable website and sign up for a free account. Once you're signed up, you'll be taken to your Airtable dashboard.
In Airtable, a 'Base' is like a small database. Click on the 'Add a base' button and choose 'Start from scratch'. Name your new base 'My Favorite Animals' and click 'Create base'.
Now you'll see a blank table. We'll add columns for our animal data. Rename the first column 'Animal Name'. Click on the '+' sign to add a new column and name it 'Type'. Add two more columns named 'Habitat' and 'Diet'.
