Body Parts and What Hurts

Learn the Spanish words for eight body parts along with their articles. Practise telling someone what part of you hurts with Me duele... These useful phrases help in real situations such as visiting a farmacia abroad.

    1 - When Words Really Matter ~5 mins

    Illustration for When words really matterHow would you tell someone your arm hurts if you had no words for it? Pointing helps for a moment, but not if you need a chemist, a doctor, or a parent on the phone.

    By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

    • Name eight body parts in Spanish
    • Say that a part of you hurts with Me duele...
    • Use a full Me duele... sentence in a short spoken exchange

    2 - Eight Body Parts ~10 mins

    We will see English first on the board. Listen to the Spanish with el or la, repeat it together, then reveal the back of the card. Keep the article with every word.

    3 - Match the Body Parts ~8 mins

    Flip two cards at a time and find each Spanish body part with its English meaning. Whisper the Spanish as each card turns, article included.

    4 - Into Your Copy ~3 mins

    COPYBOOK MOMENT

    Open your copy. Write one full sentence saying that a part of you hurts, using Me duele.... Then copy two labelled body parts from the board, article included.

    5 - At the Farmacia: Label the Figure ~10 mins

    Imagine you are at a farmacia (chemist) in Seville. Look at the figure and click the correct Spanish label for each body part. Say the word to yourself as you place it.
