What students learn

This course delivers the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) Link Modules, combining academic study with practical vocational preparation. Students investigate local employment, economic activity, social services and tourism potential, develop job search, CV, interview and work placement skills, and build enterprise capabilities through team projects, business visits, SWOT analysis and community engagement. They compile a professional portfolio and prepare for the terminal examination.

By the end of the course, students can

  1. Identify and describe key local employment sources, social services, and economic activities in the community.
  2. Prepare and format a professional CV and application form using word-processing tools.
  3. Demonstrate effective interview techniques through simulated job interviews and peer feedback.
  4. Analyse personal aptitudes and career pathways, producing a detailed career investigation report.
  5. Plan and evaluate a work placement or enterprise activity, presenting a reflective report linking to relevant subjects.
