What students learn

Duration: 5–6 weeks (≈20–24 class periods) Module Notes: Core lessons total ~10–12 periods. Extra time for coding labs, in-class challenges, and revision. Focus on building a solid problem-solving mindset before diving deeper into coding in later modules.

By the end of the course, students can

  1. Explain the concept of computer science and its real-world impact.
  2. Apply computational thinking skills, including decomposition and pattern recognition, to solve problems.
  3. Break down complex problems using problem decomposition and abstraction techniques.
  4. Design algorithms using flowcharts and pseudocode, and implement them in a programming language.
  5. Write basic programs using variables, data types, user input, and simple conditionals.

What you'll need

Used in some of the lessons. Students can share in groups of two or three.
