Beats and Bytes

Children code music onto a micro:bit, change the tempo, add their own sounds and compose a song of their own.

3rd–6th Class

This is an "in school" event where we come to your school with micro:bit devices and take your students through a 60 minute workshop that explores the connection between music and code.

Students learn how a melody is built from notes, rhythm and tempo, just like a sequence of instructions. They then program micro:bit devices to play tunes through a speaker, changing the tempo and adding their own sounds, before composing and coding a song of their own.

The workshop is designed to inspire creativity, problem solving and a love for coding by blending music with technology.

What your students learn
