VR Experiences

Float in space and look down on the Earth, go deep underwater and swim with dolphins and whales, go on an adventure with Batman. Use your VR headset to try out different virtual experiences!

1 - Introduction

In this lesson we will use our VR headset and an app on a phone to transport ourselves into different locations and experiences.

The app we will be using is called Within VR and will need to be installed on a phone so you can use it. It is a free app.

A note for parents and teachers
The Within VR app is a catalog of virtual reality videos and experiences that you can view. Much like YouTube, some of these videos may not be suitable for younger children and we would recommend that you supervise them while using the app.

2 - Install the app

The Within VR app is available on both Apple and Android phones. To install it on your phone search for "Within VR" in the app/play store or use the below links.

Apple App Store

Google Play Store

3 - Choose an experience

There are 100s of different videos and stories you can choose from in the Within VR app. Choose one of the videos to watch and then put your phone inside your VR headset. To get an even more immersive experience we recommend using a set of headphones as well.

Here are some of the stories we recommend:

The Space Walker
Strap into a rocket ship and blast off into space in this groundbreaking recreation of the 1965 Voskhod-2 rocket launch.

Fistful of Stars
Explore the cosmos through the lens of the Hubble Telescope. Journey to the Orion Nebula and experience the birth, life, and death of a star.

Video Game Vehicle
Sam and Eric install a video game console into their car's dashboard and are amazed to see the road become a real life video game quest. When the console glitches, they'll have to act fast or risk getting caught in the game forever.

Dolphin Man: Search
Journey to meet dolphins and sperm whales with engineer and biologist Fabrice Schnöller.

700 Sharks: The Mystery of Fakarava
You will join their elite scuba unit and dive through shoals of thousands of colored fish. Then, in the aqua blue depths of the South Pacific, you will witness a truly awe-inspiring scene: hundreds of gray sharks, peacefully resting on the current, awaiting nightfall when the hunt begins.
